Best time to shop at Op Shops Australia
The best time to shop at Op Shops in Australia depends on several factors, including the season and the specific op shop you are visiting. However, there are certain times of the year when you are more likely to find great deals and a larger selection of items. Here are some tips for shopping at Op Shops throughout the year:
1. Spring Cleaning Season
Many people choose to declutter and donate their unwanted items during spring cleaning. As a result, spring is a great time to find new stock at Op Shops. This is when you are most likely to find a wide variety of clothing, furniture, and household items.
2. End-of-Season Sales
Op Shops often have end-of-season sales, where they discount items that did not sell during the previous season. This is a good time to stock up on items for the upcoming season at a discounted price. For example, you can find winter coats and boots at a lower price at the end of winter.
3. Holiday Season
The holiday season is another great time to shop at Op Shops. Many people donate unwanted gifts or decorations during this time, so you may find unique holiday-themed items. Additionally, some Op Shops have special holiday promotions and sales.
4. Back-to-School Season
Op Shops often have a large selection of school supplies, clothing, and backpacks during the back-to-school season. This is a good time to find affordable school supplies for your kids or even for yourself.
5. Summer Clothing Sales
Op Shops typically have a surplus of summer clothing at the end of summer. This is a good time to stock up on summer clothes for the next year at a discounted price.

5 months agoTook my donations to this store, and there was a large container at the back where one can put them. I was being watched all the time, like security personnel do, and one item l dropped in the bin was declared dirty and l was told to remove it. It wasn’t dirty, it was a case that they had no awareness of the product. I now wish l had picked up all the things l had donated. I have never returned to that store and since then have taken my donations elsewhere. I don’t expect to be treated badly for giving donations. I often go to the trouble of cleaning what l donate so that it is pleasant for the volunteers to deal with!3 months agoI’m going to have to agree with the other not so good reviews. I went there years ago when needed but recently they’ve got new not so friendly staff volunteers. In fact rude. Get with the program – stop scaring away potential customers plus even people who like to donate quality items5 months agoMy mother took our donations into the store. A extremely rude woman ran and chased after her saying she couldn’t leave her donations and was shamed and said she couldn’t leave them here. One was a Guess suitcase which was in great working condition and was told “no one would want that”. My mum showed her all of the brand new clothes we had donated and asked if they wanted them or not. When you try to do something good for charity and are shamed and belittled for no reason! What a hassle!2 months agoCalled at opening time, polite man answered with information needed, went to pick up item up. Great price, great experience.2 months agoGood spot many car parks easy access but no much things in side the store like another shop salvos

3 weeks agoA lovely op shop with friendly staff and a large section. We found some great baby clothing items there.2 months agoI’ve been buying books and dvds there for years and I asked the staff why there are not many books. She said there they are all funneled into the Life Line Book Fair. That was fair enough as there are still some. I don’t have problems with that however the female staff member, apparently a boss there had an issue with a friend and I going out back into the working here as we were invited by a male staff member who said it was okay he gave us permission to browse the stock of dvds there. But here comes this woman boss who had a problem with us and said that she didn’t want us messing up the dvd stacks. Great. I guess that is more important than making money and keeping customers happy and coming back hey? Unusual approach. Have a bad day and take out on those that keep them in business. I also know that someone who used to work there say Lifeline Shop Wollongong for a business who is supposed to be friendly isn’t, and this rude woman just tried to assert her authority because she was having a bad day. Another time another female staff member tried to boss me around too. I won’t be going back there. Cheaps dvds and books aren’t worth being treated badly. This woman doesn’t care about keeping customers happy but controlled.9 months agoThe book shop in this store is a treasure trove. The history section is extensive, particularly with Royal books. My collection of books on European royalty, particularly British royalty, has expanded thanks to this busy store. What’s not to love. ⭐️2 years agoSome prices can be expensive however I find this store to be very tidy and DVD’s etc are very well sorted making it easy to locate what you are looking for. 5 Replies to The 8 Biggest Op Shops in Wollongong
Salvos Stores Wollongong have done a great job with this retail outlet, providing a warehouse style outlet for their recycled goods.
There’s a large selection of men’s clothing, and as always the ladies have a great choice of clothes as well.
Some great quality furniture at very affordable prices. I recommend a visit if you go op shopping.
Not happy with this service I donated some of my furniture and they only took the real good quality..the rest if there was a small scratch they don’t want it. It’s second hand for goodness sake and there’s nothing wrong with it. It good quality.
I thought I was doing them a favour to help people who need
good quality furniture . I will think twice before donating any more.
Huge store, lots of variety. Prices a little more than expected. Lovely staff.
Don’t bother with any of the bed frames. They’re all cheap and nasty with no instructions and missing pieces.
I didn’t enjoy this op shop as much as others in the area. Huge range but I think the prices weren’t reflecting the quality of some items.
