How to Shop Like a Local at Coles in Cranbourne

Shopping at Coles in Australia can be a convenient and enjoyable experience. Here are some tips and tricks to enhance your shopping trip:

  • Plan your shopping list: Before heading to Coles, make a list of the items you need to purchase. This will help you stay focused and save time in the store.
  • Check the catalog: Coles releases a weekly catalog with special offers and discounts. Browse through the catalog to find any deals on items you regularly purchase.
  • Download the Coles app: The Coles app is a handy tool that allows you to create shopping lists, view recipes, and even access exclusive discounts. It also provides users with personalized offers based on their purchasing habits.
  • Sign up for a Flybuys card: Flybuys is Coles’ loyalty program that rewards customers with points for their purchases. These points can be redeemed for various rewards such as discounts on future groceries or even flights.
  • Be mindful of unit prices: Coles displays the unit price of each product on the shelf label. This allows you to easily compare the cost per unit of different brands or pack sizes and make an informed decision.
  • Shop at quieter times: Coles tends to be busier during peak hours, such as weekends and evenings. If possible, try to shop during quieter times to avoid long queues and have a more relaxed shopping experience.
  • Bring your own bags: Coles supports environmental sustainability and charges a fee for single-use plastic bags. Remember to bring your reusable bags or purchase them at the store.
  • Check for markdowns: Coles often marks down perishable items, such as fruits, vegetables, and baked goods, nearing their expiration dates. Look out for these items for potential savings.

Dear Kmart, Coles, Woolworths etc etc and all other stores that have self checkout —
You are almost exclusively self-checkout now. The last time I was there there was a lady checking receipts at the exit, stopping everyone.
I didn’t choose to participate in that nonsense, so I just skipped the exit line and left. I heard her saying “Ma’am” as I kept walking and raised the receipt above my head, leaving the store.
You can either trust me to do self-checkout, or you can put your cashiers back in place like it used to be. I’m not interested in proving that I did your job for you. You want me to be a cashier with no training then that’s your problem not mine. Don’t Audit me for a position you refuse to employ any longer.

A couple of months ago I would have given this coles a 2 if they were lucky. But in the last couple of weeks I have seen some much needed improvements. The store is much cleaner and the staff are much friendlier. There was a new lady there, smiling laughing with a dimple sure she said she was a manager. Excellent customer service. Need more of her very helpful and great attitude. I will continue to shop there I hope it keeps improving. Lastly I forgot to say the deli looks so much better products actually look full and fresh not empty and dull.

I love how you have your own self serve dog treats etc! But however each time I come here I’m always targeted by one particular staff member & the stock is always lacking too which is why I have stopped coming here.

Store seriously lacks stock, especially items on special. If it’s on special, order more. Also the past 2 months have had a real problem with bad fresh produce. Always finding mouldy grapes, strawberries, cherry tomatoes, qukes, apples, pears. Staff are aware but it keeps happening.

  1. We live in Berwick but sometimes our Coles delivery is from the Cranbourne store & we can always tell. Today’s experience: about $50 worth of items out of stock & no substitutes. Some items substituted & the replacements are items we’d never buy. Half of a cucumber had rotted, a can of dog food dented so badly, it was difficult to open, mushrooms looked like they were a month old with dark spots on them. So later today, I have to drive down to our local Coles to buy all the items that were missing. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting home delivery. Cranbourne store needs to teach pickers that if they wouldn’t purchase that item for themselves, don’t pick it for any other customer. At least this time the driver brought the delivery to the door. Last time Cranbourne delivered, the driver left everything at the bottom of the stairs (nowhere near the front door), did not ring doorbell as per instructions & where the goods were left could have easily been knocked off by anyone going past. It was also raining…what a genius!

  2. Fantastic variety of produce and products. Shelves are always stocked, and staff are super friendly and helpful. The store has always been clean when we attend and plenty of trolleys inside to use. There are plenty of self serve check outs and staffed checkouts. I know if it is busy and there is only one person on the register, if you just ask politely, they will call someone else to help. Self check outs aren’t for everyone, and not if you have a lot of shopping, but once you use them a few times, you get the hang of them, and they really aren’t complex.
I would recommend joining flybuys if you haven’t already. You can use it at so many places and gather points and activate higher points on items you may already buy. I use mine for shopping by converting the points to cash. However, you can also get items from these points.

  3. Went to purchase a certain flavour of Gippsland Yoghurt that was on special. It had 4 on display, all with more than a week passed use by date. Found a staff member to make her aware. Her response-l DON’T WORK IN THAT DEPT. Showed no interest in going to remove the product off the shelf, poor staff skills. Coming from a retail background with main opposition-DOES NOT MATTER WHICH DEPT YOU WORK, JUST GO AND TAKE IT SHOW. Other than that, found everything l wanted, no wait time at checkouts

  4. Only ordered online coz it was raining so badly and ended up the main item that I ordered was unavailable. They Didn’t even bother to put a substitute for the unavailable item. What a waste of delivery and service fee!
