a week agoEvery time I visit the FNQ, My friend and I stop in at Preston and get Moreton bay Bugs, tiger prawns and barramundi.this time we also got their salmon sashimi which was so sweet and delicious. Highly recommend Preston. They’re the best!2 weeks agoHave bought fish here many times and had no problems. We ordered a $250 hamper for Christmas and went to pick it up, but they couldn’t find the order. An alternative hamper was found. All was good except for the crayfish which was mush and inedible. Hope this feedback helps as normally all your seafood is of good quality.3 months agoNumber 1 fresh seafood in cairns!!! Very kind service. More than 5 star ?I bought sashimi squid(very famous in Korea) from Preston Fresh today. I’ve never had frozen squid as sashimi before, but it was very fresh and very tasty. The mussels I have had before so I know they are always good, and the flounder I am looking forward to pan seared tomorrow, very exciting!!
I would highly recommend Preston Fresh once again for the best kind & happy staff and always available freshest seafood in cairns .
a week agoWe could not have had a better Xmas lunch. Went to Preston seafood on the 23 and it was packed with people but as soon as we walked in the door someone was asking if we needed help the service was prompt and very friendly. We bought Cray, bugs, prawns, crab.scollops & sqid everything was fantastic including the price. I was not impressed with the crab first time I have had it but didn’t seem to have much meet but I think this is the norm. Highly recommend Preston’s Seafood ?????????9 months agoA truly superb seafood market. With everything you could dream off. From Spanish anchovies through to live mud crabs. They even have prepared fresh meals. This is one of the best seafood markets I’ve ever been to. Let alone for cairns. It’s out of the way but worth the trip and they have containers to buy and ice so you can keep everything. In top condition on what is always a hot day. Tip they also smoke a lot of fish which is nice and different.

We had the seafood feast and it was great, in particular the squid rings and scallops. Crumbed seafood is a good option to have, which is not normally the case back in Melbourne.
Ordered the Scallywag Pack and couldn’t be more impressed. Would have to be one of the best fish and chips I’ve ever had. Fish bites were flaky and tender, chips were cooked and salted perfectly. Goes well with their tartare sauce. Would recommend
The food here is exemplary, however the service is even better! Lots of friendly & capable staff; when buying a KG of prawns the lady even honoured the slightly incorrect price sign although I wasn’t really concerned about it; the Aussie red spot prawns were beautiful, but I think their greatest product is the Curry Scallop pies; just get in early, we got them right out of the oven at lunchtime after missing out the evening before! What a great shop!
I tried fish for the first time in 24 years yesterday and decided to try my local after confirming it would be dairy-free. I had the battered barramundi with a garden salad. I really enjoyed it! I can’t remember what fish tastes like at all, so I was nervous but it was delicious with the lemon and salad. Massive portion, I could only manage half of it, and saved the other half for lunch today which I heated in the air-fryer and it came out so crispy, just as it did when fresh. I’ll definitely be back for more! The service was also really friendly.
We ordered a dozen fresh oysters, half cooked lobster with 5 cooked prawns from the fresh seafood section. From the kitchen we ordered battered barramundi, crumbed prawn cutlets set, crumbed calamari set and chips. The oysters, lobster and prawns were very fresh and tasty but oysters & lobster was slightly icy/frozen where we had to wait for it to melt a bit. The battered barramundi was the highlight and is probably one of the best fish and chips we had. Batter was crunchy & crispy and the fish was extremely fresh. Most importantly, it did not feel oily at all. We have eaten many fish & chips, some of the best came from Geelong and Philip Island. And the fish and chips here (yes, the chips as well were crunchy and soft inside) was definitely rank top 3 for us. The calamari rings were good too. There were no tables inside just outside and it was getting a bit hot as we were having them for lunch. Couldn’t find toilets nor hand wash basin either. Definitely a place to visit if you are seeking top notch beer battered fish & chips.
