10 months agoI’ve loved the shop for many years and they’ve still got some great unique pieces coming through here for moderate prices, worth following their instagram to see. From my recent visit I noticed there’s way less vintage or antique items, more new products and clothes and soaps. Small gifts and such, which is nice, it’s just less ‘awesome antique finds’ and way more ‘Anthropologie.’ Customer service has always been bullocks.
a year agoTL;DR: This store sells lamps that are currently available at Ikea for more than twice the cost. How can I trust anything else they sell, and why would I want to give them my business?I recently moved to DC from NYC and am looking for a few pieces for my new place. My home is almost entirely furnished with vintage and antique items collected over the years, so GoodWood seemed like a good place to browse.
This store is beautifully curated and styled, with a mix of vintage and current pieces. By “current,” I did NOT expect to see the Ikea Ranarp clip lamp (sans tags), branded as a “modern clip light,” and sold for $48. I actually needed to take a trip to Ikea last week, so I stopped by the lighting section during that trip to see if they still sold it. The answer is yes, and for $21.99. See my pictures, both taken within the last week.
This calls into question the legitimacy (and price!) of every item in the store. I saw another lamp I liked in GoodWood, but I didn’t consider buying it because I had just seen the Ikea lamp and for all I know, the one I liked is from CB2 or Wayfair or something. Ruined the whole store for me. Miss Pixie’s seems like a great alternative.
in the last weekA fantastic vintage furniture and home decore shop. You can find everything here and their prices are very competitive.4 months agoA great store – everything piece has a story – terrific when looking for something special and unique – everyone who works there is lovely –11 months agoI had shopped at Good Wood for many years. I enjoyed buying unique dresses and jewelry from their store. However, after attending the Fall Dress Party that was held on Friday, October 14th, they will no longer get my business. I was one of two black people in their store. The amount of racial profiling I experienced while shopping was insulting. They nearly broke their necks with their thinly veiled fear hidden behind overly strained politeness as they attempted follow my every move. As I began to walk up to the cashier and purchase two pair of earrings. The sales person stressed that she could take the earrings up to the cash register as I continued to shop. I told her, no thank you. I’m going to purchase them now. She then sent her young coworker over to me while standing in line to pay. It was an attempt to strike up a conversation with me in order to confirm & observe that I didn’t steal any of the earrings. I did not engage in her conversation. So, she left. She then returned and skipped the customer in front of me, only asking me if I wanted the two earrings boxed up. I am a 60 year old professional black women. I have seen enough to know when white people fear me because of the color of my skin. Don’t worry Good Wood, you will not see me again in your store. However, remember this. When you are fearing the black person because you think they are a thief, just know that there is a white person, using the cloak of entitlement, walking out your store front door with stolen merchandise. Bye!

4 years agoThe antiques and the finds here are wonderful. The staff, volunteers, care so much about the items. Here I am reminded of my grandparents dishes, jewelry, paintings, dishes, silver, metalurgy, pocket watches, rugs …. and the iron statutes are just phenomenal. Today I found a 10k gold rosary engraved from 1924 … with a historical attention to detail that is awesome. The people working in the store celebrate the items as you look.6 months agoSmall selection, but the best antique/consignment jewelry in D.C. I found my engagement ring here. INSANELY great deals, especially on diamond rings and higher-value pieces. The manager is so helpful and friendly!a month agoDespite being a little pricey, I found some GORGEOUS, high-quality jewelry hidden within the upper and lower jewelry sections!4 months agoThis place is amazing. You can find all kinds of neat things.3 years agoWow. Great place for vintage jewelry and everything else one needs for a home or office. Not only is everything repurposed but all proceeds go to children in the area that need help meeting their emotional needs. Found four rare Portmeirion pottery pieces as well as two pieces of vintage high-end jewelry. These were very fairly priced with the market. Excellent collection of dishes, silver, and crystal. Go there instead of doing a wedding registry! So much more green! Rock on Opportunity Shop – you made my heart happy today seeing things re-purposed! The place was packed!

Lots of cool stuff to see here! You can really spend a lot of time going through all the vintage postcards and pictures. Definitely a neat place to check out!
Anything you want or didn’t know you needed exists inside of this shop. Snagged a few cards and a good piece of art from here before. There’s a cool bin of old photographs that’s fun to dig through and see the dates they were taken. Will always make time to stop when I’m in town.
“Miss Pixie’s” is a landmark and beloved DC Institution.
Managed and Owned by the constantly involved Miss Pixie.
Here one will behold
Lots of finds, including:
Old and new
Vintage and antique
Mid century last and onwards on towards midcentury 21st Century
Some current Lancaster wood craftsmanship
Christmas ornaments at Advent Season
Art and furnishings
Things to live by and things to help one live well.
And as well, at “Miss Pixie’s”, there is always much to take- in at street- level; in the always redesigned store- front window.
Enclosed, are a few photographs of the wonderful pieces I have discovered at “Miss Pixie’s”.
Cool items but why the heck are people just hanging around in the aisles? Space is tight as it is; this is not the place to block walkways while you catch up with your friends.
And yes, I’m aware that I sound like a crotchety, get-off-my-lawn-er. I have accepted this about myself. ☺️
Quirky store with a mix of vintage and refurbished pieces. I like the vibe and I feel like you need to watch their IG religiously to scoop up the treasures! Pricing was a bit inconsistent but not unreasonable for a city antique shop.
