This is my favorite Crate & Barrel to go to in all of DC, MD, and VA. The staff is exceptional and have helped my wife and I with numerous transactions to purchase, exchange, and return products ordered in-store, online, and received as gifts. We cannot say enough about how friendly the people are that work at this C&B.

The store is seasonally updated with their new decor and homewards, but also has an extensive collection of furnishings on display.

Of note – also have an attached Starbucks that makes for a convenient snack or drink to accompany your visit to C&B.

Very modern and beautiful. I like this place a lot. You will never walk out empty handed. Update: the more you go there the more you find good stuff. It is a great place to shop with good sales people and staff. They are so kind and friendly and always helpful!

Horrible customer service. Second time in a week I have been placed on hold for 10 minutes after being told they would find an associate to help me. Had to hang up both times, never did get anybody. And I am a customer that has just spent $6k on furniture from their store and just looking for a little assistance. Very disappointing, expect better.

The store is bright and has all the usual Crate & Barrel perks, with many larger pieces of furniture on view upstairs. Staff are very friendly. The customer service has been uneven, however. The first time we came, I was greeted by someone with “hey, welcome back!” (which is fine), but then it took some insisting that I wasn’t who the sales person thought I was. The second time, we stopped by to see something that ended up not being on the floor (again, fine). However, we were told we could see a sample of the wood, but then the person who assisted us couldn’t produce one. They instead recommended another piece and sent us across the store to see it – to what ended up being yet another piece that we weren’t interested in. At that same visit, we were told we should please always order through the store, because online competition made it hard for stores to stay open. The last time, I came to pick up an online order, clicked the curbside pick up link, and waited outside as instructed. After about 10-15 mins I got in line inside and asked about the order. I was told to go back outside. I waited another 10-15. When I returned, my order sat at the cashier’s; I remarked that I had been instructed to wait at the curb, and was told “he probably didn’t communicate that” (not sure who). Each of these incidents seems small, but next time I’ll probably try go to a different store or just order on the website.

Joybird was phenomenal! Ruth Jean, the designer, was extremely helpful when I told her I needed a new sectional to replace my old couch. The Bryant petite modular sectional is amazing. Delivery folks were fantastic. The whole process was easy and painless! Love the prime peacock pet friendly fabric!

My husband and I had a great experience at the Joybird store in DC. Cynthia was extremely helpful! I had done research online, but ended up selecting different pieces after seeing them all in person. She was super patient as I price-compared everything, helping me calculate the sales prices of different items. Cynthia has a great system for helping to choose fabric colors, especially since we wanted a sofa and chair to go next to each other. The furniture arrived ahead of schedule which was a pleasant surprise and we had no issues with the delivery. We are super happy with our Hughes Sleeper Sofa and Hughes Apartment Chair!

I had an amazing visit to the Joybird store in D.C. From the moment I stepped inside, Candice warmly welcomed me. Her expertise and assistance were exceptional, and she guided me through various materials and sizes. The staff was so patient and kind, and Candice provided me with a detailed timeline, maintaining consistent communication from the beginning to the delivery. The delivery itself was smooth, and I’m absolutely smitten with my new sectional! I wholeheartedly endorse Joybird – a definite 100% recommendation!

The team at Joybird on 14th street deserves 5 stars. Each time I’ve been into the store they have been extremely patient, helpful, welcoming, understanding and overall great to deal with. They are happy to answer questions and provide advice (which I’ve found super helpful as it’s helped me choose the right colors and styles) but not pushy or overbearing – they actually made the process enjoyable. I have purchased two couches from Joybird and couldnt be happier with them! A special shout out to Candice who is AMAZING!! She has been excellent throughout the decision and purchasing process and I’d definitely recommend her to anyone else looking for furniture!

I absolutely love my new sofa! Tyler is an expert associate – understands his customers, goes above and beyond, and has a great eye. Delivery/install team was super fast and professional. All around super experience even in these days of supply chain issues.

Looking forward to relaxing in and decorating my new home now!

    Thanks, Tyler and Joybird!

Furniture Store in Washington DC: Do’s and Don’ts Every Shopper Should Know

When shopping at a furniture store, it’s important to familiarize yourself with the rules and guidelines to ensure a smooth and pleasant experience. Here are some do’s and don’ts to keep in mind:

DO:

  • Research and prepare: Before visiting a furniture store, do some research online to get an idea of what you’re looking for. Measure your space and take note of any specific preferences or requirements.
  • Set a budget: Determine your budget beforehand to avoid overspending. This will help you narrow down your choices and focus on options within your price range.
  • Take advantage of sales and promotions: Keep an eye out for special sales or promotions, as furniture stores often offer discounts on specific items or during certain seasons.
  • Test the furniture: When you visit the store, make sure to test the furniture for comfort and durability. Sit on sofas, try out chairs, and open and close drawers to ensure everything is functioning properly.
  • Ask questions: Don’t hesitate to ask the store staff any questions you may have about the furniture, such as materials, cleaning instructions, or warranty information. They are there to assist you and provide guidance.
  • Check return policies: Before making a purchase, understand the store’s return and exchange policies. This will give you peace of mind in case you need to return or exchange an item.
  • Arrange delivery or pickup: If the furniture is too large or heavy to transport yourself, inquire about delivery options and associated costs. Alternatively, also find out if you can arrange for pickup if you own a suitable vehicle.

DON’T:

  • Be afraid to negotiate: While not all furniture stores may have negotiable prices, it doesn’t hurt to ask if there’s any room for negotiation, especially if you’re purchasing multiple items or making a large purchase. You might be able to secure a better deal.
  • Expect immediate availability: Some furniture items may not be immediately available for purchase, especially if they are custom-made or need to be ordered from a warehouse. Be prepared for potential wait times and check if you can place an order in advance.
  • Overlook quality: While price is a significant factor, it’s important not to compromise on quality. Pay attention to the craftsmanship, material, and construction of the furniture to ensure it will last and meet your expectations.
  • Forget to take measurements: Always measure your space before buying furniture to ensure it will fit properly. Avoid the hassle of returning or exchanging items that don’t fit the intended area.
  • Ignore the fine print: Before making any purchase, carefully read through the warranty, care instructions, and any other important information provided by the store. This will help you understand how to properly care for the furniture and what is covered under warranty.
  • Rush your decision: Take your time when shopping for furniture. It’s an investment, and you want to make sure you choose the right pieces that align with your style, comfort, and needs. Don’t rush into making a decision you may regret later on.

  1. I ordered a couch from here in August and it was to be delivered at the start of December. It was delayed until the end of December and I waited for it to arrive. 1 day before it was supposed to arrive in the warehouse I got an email saying it would be delayed for 2 more months. I waited for 2 months and days before it was supposed to arrive in the warehouse after the 2 month delay I got an email saying it was delayed again. I have called customer service and they have been of no help. They have no idea when the couch will arrive or what the progress is on it. They will not give a discount for this long delay. I am stuck in a pattern where I expect the couch to arrive any day, and then it gets pushed back. This is not okay. I paid over 3k for my couch and am just getting brushed off by customer service, the managers that I have spoken with, and the associates who we spoke to in the store we shopped at. I was planning on purchasing a side table, coffee table, and lamp after the couch arrived, but I will no longer be using room and board in the future. I ask you all to be wary of purchasing from here. I paid for the couch in full and now it looks as if it will never arrive. I expect more from this company, and am highly dissapointed.

  2. Room & Board celebrates PRIDE MONTH. This years #Capitalpride Parade begins at the corner of 14th and T street. Room & Board has put up the flags, in support of equality and inclusion and truly welcomes all.

  3. Extremely rude store employees who told me the store was closed when I walked in at 4pm and then as I was as confused they ignored me rather than saying they were kidding. Wished me a good day as I walked out but there is nothing like a first impression and this interaction when I walked in the doors initially with a smile completely ruined my experience. Just bought a new home looking to furnish the entire thing these guys won’t be getting my business.

  4. How to begin? This is a wonderful store, and shopping there is a fabulous experience! Everyone from the reception we received to our designer, Daren, was vested in finding exactly what we needed. I must add that every single chair in the dining section upstairs was comfortable, which made it very hard to choose. And, unlike other stores, we were able to see all of the available dining chairs in one area of one room, all lined up to try. We thought the task would be daunting, but with Daren’s help, we chose the right chair, the Afton. He even looked up, online, the table we had purchased at another store to make sure it would work with the chairs. When the chairs arrived, they were in perfect condition, and very securely packaged. Thank you Daren most sincerely, and Room and Board!
