Melbourne ( MEL-bərn; Boonwurrung/Woiwurrung: Narrm or Naarm) is the capital of the Australian state of Victoria and the second-most populous city in Australia, after Sydney (although the most populous by contiguous urban area). Its name generally refers to a 9,993 km2 (3,858 sq mi) metropolitan area known as Greater Melbourne, comprising an urban agglomeration of 31 local municipalities, although the name is also used specifically for the local municipality of City of Melbourne based around its central business area.
The metropolis occupies much of the northern and eastern coastlines of Port Phillip Bay and spreads into the Mornington Peninsula, part of West Gippsland, as well as the hinterlands towards the Yarra Valley, the Dandenong Ranges, and the Macedon Ranges. Melbourne has a population over 5 million (19% of the population of Australia, as of the 2021 census), mostly residing to the east of the city centre, and its inhabitants are commonly referred to as "Melburnians".The area of Melbourne has been home to Aboriginal Victorians for over 40,000 years and serves as an important meeting place for local Kulin nation clans. Of the five peoples of the Kulin nation, the traditional custodians of the land encompassing Melbourne are the Boonwurrung, Wathaurong and the Wurundjeri peoples. A short-lived penal settlement was built in 1803 at Port Phillip, then part of the British colony of New South Wales. However, it was not until 1835, with the arrival of free settlers from Van Diemen's Land (modern-day Tasmania), that Melbourne was founded. It was incorporated as a Crown settlement in 1837, and named after William Lamb, 2nd Viscount Melbourne, who was then Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. In 1851, four years after Queen Victoria declared it a city, Melbourne became the capital of the new colony of Victoria. During the 1850s Victorian gold rush, the city entered a lengthy boom period that, by the late 1880s, had transformed it into one of the world's largest and wealthiest metropolises. After the federation of Australia in 1901, Melbourne served as the interim seat of government of the new nation until Canberra became the permanent capital in 1927. Today, it is a leading financial centre in the Asia-Pacific region and ranked 32nd globally in the March 2022 Global Financial Centres Index.Melbourne is home of many of Australia's best-known landmarks, such as the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the National Gallery of Victoria and the World Heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. Noted for its cultural heritage, the city gave rise to Australian rules football, Australian impressionism and Australian cinema, and has more recently been recognised as a UNESCO City of Literature and a global centre for street art, live music and theatre. It hosts major annual international events, such as the Australian Grand Prix and the Australian Open, and also hosted the 1956 Summer Olympics. Melbourne consistently ranked as the world's most liveable city for much of the 2010s.Melbourne Airport, also known as the Tullamarine Airport, is the second-busiest airport in Australia, and the Port of Melbourne is the nation's busiest seaport. Its main metropolitan rail terminus is Flinders Street station and its main regional rail and road coach terminus is Southern Cross station. It also has Australia's most extensive freeway network and the largest urban tram network in the world.

Had a great Murder Mystery Night! Better than I expected. A big thank you to the team for looking after us, very organised and friendly. We booked only a few weeks in advance and it was great that they were able to cater for all our needs.

The 190 teenagers had the most incredible time on their year 10 formal cruise! It was an unforgettable experience that they will cherish for a long time.

I was anxious to organise the Year 10 Formal as a parent , as I have never done it before and let alone this many teenagers on a boat.

Elise from OZparty events was extremely helpful, organised and kept us informed of the entire process. I explained what I required and she went above and beyond to ensure it went to my expectation.

The DJ played an awesome mix of music, ensuring that everyone was on the dance floor.

The food on the cruise was top-notch for the teenagers.

Maria and her staff on the cruise were extremely friendly and accommodating. They went out of their way to make sure we had a great time and were always there to help with any questions or requests.

The cruise provided numerous photo opportunities. The stunning sunset, the backdrop of the harbour, and the venue made for beautiful pictures that will serve as wonderful memories.

The cruise was well-organised, and everything went off without a hitch. From embarkation to disembarkation, the entire experience was seamless, especially with 190 sixteen year olds.

The combination of the beautiful setting, great food, entertainment, and wonderful company made for a night filled with unforgettable memories. It was a perfect way to end their year 10 journey.

I highly recommend OzParty Events for your next event, I definitely will.

  1. I worked with them for festival X in Gold Coast and was unfortunately left feeling extremely annoyed to the point of feeling the need to write a bad review as there was no staff to make a complaint with. Chelsea, the supposed ‘supervisor’ I worked with was the rudest person I have ever had the displeasure of working with. When trying to answer a simple question she screamed over me and flailed her arms around repeating herself for no reason… The customers waiting to be served could not believe the way I was spoken too. It’s a shame as everyone else I worked with was a pleasure, just one bad unprofessional letting the O’Brien Team down. The way this woman spoke to not only me but everyone else on the bar all day was disgraceful. I hope this reaches the right person and she is dealt with properly.

  2. Every week at the Melbourne Storm game at AAMI Park there never any burgers ready for purchase when the gates open. When asked at 6.40pm I was told that they had not even started to make them and they call themselves a catering company.

  3. Best rinks in Australia. I think they could do more to clean the place though. I also think that the Figure skaters should get far more support than they get from the management. I thoroughly recommend this rink, particularly for ice hockey. They need to make their cafeteria more inviting by putting up posters and pictures of some of Victoria’s champion figure skaters, our wonderful synchronised skate teams, theatre on ice, ice dance and pairs. and hockey players. Even the speed skating should get some picture up around the rink and cafeteria. It would help make Ice sports more popular and inclusive! Overall, if you have dietary requirements nothing will be available at the rink. Fantastic ice experience though.

  4. I tried calling head office about Goulda Sara Mel all kitchen dish pigs at wayville an she was living in her car I only knew her from work then I says she can stay 1NIGHT when I found out her and her boss at Wayville Showgrouds but obriens staff they were using meth together goulda warding or whoever she is then started trying to pay me to stay longer in 20kg packs of meat that was prepared for 2023 show however this was still August- show is in September, I told the big boss in Adelaide and he said oh this is so serious so I sent him all pictures of showbags that weren’t released but what they stole an were selling an show tickets so you’d think her big HR boss in Adelaide wouldve said done something no so I’ve got all the pictures still of the meat she stole hthe way she left my room an if your another race forget applying I’ve heard their staff call indigenous people.all sorts of names I won’t say on here it’s highly offensive and they’re all still there and the boss of Adelaide O’Briens Andrew or something basic like that turns out he fills his car with meat to so no wonder. Thats why obriens catering dont drug screen police check because theyre all on amphetamines an have had so many things go missing when they’re call in obriens thats why Pinnacle People have the monopoly, theyd never hire any of these addicts, i just done a random drug test and bought into to says we need to talk amedical the others day its random thats why we have a better calibre of people and the show costs a fortunebout employment I work at Adelaide Oval mate stick ur job, I don’t work for thieves and be tainted with your company I removed you from resume your an embarrassment.
