Excellent (and much appreciated) service received from Justin at the Dubbo store today regarding a new mobile phone purchase. He gained the sale that another business lost through their apathy. Thanks Justin! Hope your manager knows your worth!
The shine of Officeworks has worn off. Recently I went into the Dubbo store to purchase a couple of things. While I was there I grabbed another item I thought was on special. Then after going through the checkout I just noticed the amount on the receipt looked a bit high. After I went back to the line and got to the front desk and checked, the item wasn’t on special (it was the item underneath that was on special), so my bad. So then I asked for a refund and that’s where the drama started. The attendant could not do a refund over $50 without another staff member being present. So I thought well the management obviously doesn’t trust the staff with anything over $50 which is pretty sad. Anyway after waiting at the checkout for another staff member to ‘validate’ the return, I was asked for my personal details to do the return. I asked” why do you need my personal details? Is it the consumer rights policy or the store policy?which she replied “the store policy”. The store policy doesn’t override the Australian Consumer law, so I don’t have to give out my personal details to get a refund. Sure the store policy might be in place to keep check on repeat offenders using the items and then returning them, but the item sat on the front counter, it never even left the store. So to get past the ‘Store Policy’ and stop wasting my time I gave them another phone number to look up and use that account to lodge the return. This was my wife’s account, but she uses her maiden name. I could have used anyones mobile number to use to lodge the return, they didn’t check if it was related to me. So the takeaway is: the store policies are not explained to the customer before they enter the store. Shoppers are only made aware of store policies when the customer is told what they can and can’t do. I used to be a regular at Officeworks but I will be going elsewhere from now on. I’m sure I’m not the only one. In hindsight, Officeworks doesn’t even bother addressing the bad reviews here, which is an example of the level of customer care!
Excellent staff. Great price match with other retailers. Available stocks for important electronic gadget. Staff helps to buy with a smiling face. Customer satisfaction guarantee. OW Dubbo is essential for Dubbo.
Ladies in the photo printing section, put a smile on and try some customer service skills. You’re alive, seemed to be healthy, and you have a job in these hard times. Smile on and at least pretend you are happy in life.
The customer service there is ok, but needs to improve.
The old woman that works there should be enrolled into a customer service training program.
I’m not asking for much when it comes to serving customers. Just be polite, and don’t act like it’s such a bother to serve a customer.
